2019-2020 Newman Civic Fellow Winner
The Newman Civic Fellowship recognizes and supports community-committed students who are change makers and public problem-solvers at Campus Compact member institutions. This year's Fellow, Belinda Atta, was nominated by our president on the basis of her potential for public leadership.
Belinda Atta is a junior Public Administration student with a passion for civic engagement and community involvement. Belinda is a Program Co-Chair of Bobcat Build, a day of service attended by more than 4,000 students. In her role as Co-Chair she has worked tirelessly to identify needs within San Marcos and serve in any way she can. Belinda is also a Resident Assistant on campus and a role model to her peers. On top of her work on campus, Belinda is an active volunteer at a number of organizations including the Hays County Food Bank, Pflugerville Public Library, and a Kitchen Assistant for Adventist Community Service. Belinda finds purpose in her involvement in her community and through the connections her engagements allow her to fortify. She has a marked history of leadership and works to educate her peers on social issues through her various roles.
